The Palace Theater in Columbus, Ohio can lay a claim as being modeled after France’s famous, Palais De Versailles. Designer Thomas Lamb worked in conjunction with legendary vaudeville magnate Edwin Albee and in 1926, The Palace Theater first opened its doors to an excited and eager public audience waiting to enter.

The Theater was originally used mostly to house vaudeville acts so those on stage had no additional help in the amplification of their voices, which resulted in the great care that was put into the natural acoustic arrangement of the Palace Theater. Most of the performance shows would initially reside in Columbus for several days and in some cases for weeks on end. The backstage organization of the Palace Theater was constructed with an eye on the nomadic nature of an actor’s life. The dressing area came complete with a lobby table where performers could grab their mail or room keys. There was also a selected children’s room and a kitchen within the confines of the Palace Theater.

Beginning in the 1930’s and continuing through the 1950’s, the Palace Theater held the distinction of offering the best quality of entertainment in Columbus. Big name acts like, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Jackie Gleason, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Burns & Allen, Jack Benny and Glenn Miller at one time or on several occasions found themselves taking advantage of the near home amenities being offered up to those who performed at the Palace Theater.

In 1989 the Columbus Association of the Performing Arts (CAPA) acquired the Palace Theater in an effort to bring in the type of clientele the house was familiar with during its heyday. GoTickets enjoys bringing to life the varied shows that CAPA has to offer with options for such events as: Little Women tickets, Cleveland Orchestra tickets, Natalie Cole tickets, Tommy Tune tickets, Howie Mandel tickets, David Sanborn tickets, Mandy Patinkin tickets, David Copperfield tickets, Bonnie Raitt tickets, George Benson tickets and many, many others.
