Landmark Theatre tickets are a theater patrons’ introduction to the rich history of one of the New York area’s grandest venues. The Landmark Theatre was built in 1928, offering both first run movies and a variety of live acts. Its ornate design soon became even more important as the population fled the disheartening throes of the depression for time spent in the luxurious confines of the Landmark Theatre. The main lobby featured a magnificent Tiffany chandelier while the upper promenade lobby carried a fish pond as one of its main attraction.
Like many of the early movie houses, the Landmark Theatre thrived for decades before eventually falling victim to the new movie cinemas of the modern era. Concerned that this New York Landmark would be torn down, preservationists formed the Syracuse Landmark Theatre group to save the building. Their efforts resulted in the theater being placed on the National Registrar of Historic Places and their efforts to preserve and restore this treasure continue to this day.
Today, thanks to the efforts of the SALT, residents and visitors to New York are able to once again enjoy this beautiful theater. Events at the Landmark Theater now include performances by the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, musical performances by popular musicians, and Broadway productions.
