Built in 1927 and designed by architect Herbert J. Krapp, the John Golden Theatre was the birthplace of many a show that later went on to become hits on the main avenue of Broadway. John Golden acquired this theatre in 1937 and continued its tradition of producing the finest productions he could find. Among his hits were A Curtain Call, Aries is Rising, and Waiting for Godot in 1956. More recently the John Golden Theatre featured the musical production of Avenue Q with music by Robert Lopez and Vincent in Brixton by Nicolas Wright.
