Belmont Park is celebrated its 100th anniversary in ‘05 and it had a lot to celebrate. The 430-acre facility has the largest racetrack in North American (1 ½ miles) and is among the most recognizable and important racing venues in the world. Many of the best horses in racing history have run at Belmont over the years.
Belmont Park is of course home to the $1 million Belmont Stakes, the third leg of Thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown after the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs and Preakness Stakes at Pimlico. Afleet Alex took the ‘05 Belmont Stakes in dominating fashion, and the race’s history goes back all the way to 1867. The most famous running of the race came in 1973 when Secretariat destroyed the field by 31 lengths to capture the Triple Crown. Other great horses to win the Belmont include Seattle Slew, Easy Goer, Affirmed, Citation, Assault, War Admiral and Man o’ War. Crowds of well over 100,000 are common at the Belmont Stakes (more than 120,000 came to see Smarty Jones’ unsuccessful quest for the Triple Crown in ‘04), so make sure you use GoTickets for your Belmont Stakes tickets. GoTickets also has Kentucky Derby tickets and Preakness Stakes tickets, so check here first when you need Triple Crown tickets.
Belmont Park runs two race meets each year - one in spring/summer and another in the fall. This year Belmont will host the Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. The Breeders’ Cup is the Super Bowl of horse racing and tickets go fast. GoTickets has your Breeders Cup tickets and Belmont Park tickets.
