The Colonial Theatre, which seats approximately 1,700, is one of four venues operated by Broadway in Boston, which also produces shows at the Wilbur Theatre, The Opera House and the Charles Playhouse. Opened on December 20, 1900, the Colonial’s first performance was Ben Hur, which featured a cast of 350 including a real chariot race with 12 horses on stage. Since then the theater has developed into one of Boston’s premier performance venues and in the ’90s underwent a major restoration that brought back much of the theater’s original splendor while adding modern amenities. Get the best Colonial Theatre tickets and Boston Broadway show tickets from GoTickets.

The 2013 Broadway in Boston series at the Colonial includes a pre-Broadway engagement of If I’d Saved, I Wouldn’t Be Here starring Martin Short. Also on tap is Hal Linden starring in Mitch Albom’s Tuesdays with Morrie, based on the New York Times bestseller. Other upcoming events at the Colonial include Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Clifford the Big Red Dog Live. And it has just been announced that Monty Python’s Spamalot, the Tony Award winner for best musical in ‘05 and one of the biggest hits on Broadway, will be coming to the Colonial Theatre in March ‘06. So when you need Spamalot tickets, you need GoTickets. And if you need any Boston in Broadway tickets or Colonial Theater show tickets, check with GoTickets first.
