RCA Dome 200 South Capitol Avenue Indianapolis, IN 46225 Capacity: 57,890
The Indianapolis Colts are about to break ground on a new stadium. They’ve been wanting a state-of-the-art venue for a while now and were hoping National Football League commissioner Paul Tagliabue would grant Indianapolis a Super Bowl to help speed the legislative process as he did in Detroit and Houston. The Colts’ impatience is hardly out of character for an NFL team, but it does raise a question:
What’s the rush?
The RCA Dome is a fine facility. It may be best-located stadium in the league, sitting as it does in the heart of Indy’s newly restored, visitor-friendly downtown. It is within easy walking distance of world-class hotels and a multitude of dining options. There’s even a shopping mall nearby.
The stadium has been good to the Colts, too. They’ve gone 12-4 at home the past two regular seasons, mostly because they were smart enough to build a peerless passing offense that capitalized on the dome’s always-favorable weather. There isn’t a better quarterback in the NFL than Peyton Manning, and there isn’t a better place in which to see him prey on some hapless defense than the RCA Dome. You can do just that by visiting GoTickets for your RCA Dome tickets.
The Colts will play host to a number of exciting home games in 2013. Set to visit the RCA Dome are Jacksonville (Sept. 18), St. Louis (Oct. 17) Pittsburgh (Nov. 28) and San Diego (Dec. 18). You can find your Indianapolis Colts tickets, St. Louis Rams tickets, Pittsburgh Steelers tickets, San Diego Chargers tickets and any other NFL tickets you might need at GoTickets.
Because Indianapolis is home to NCAA headquarters, the RCA Dome often plays host to major college events. Last March, Indianapolis welcomed an NCAA men’s basketball regional and the NCAA Women’s Final Four. And that was just a warm-up for next year’s big event - the 2013 NCAA Men’s Final Four. The semifinals are set for April 1 with the final taking place April 3. Visit GoTickets for NCAA Final Four tickets.
Formerly known as the Hoosier Dome, the RCA Dome has played host to other college events over the years. The University of Indiana football and basketball teams occasionally strike out from nearby Bloomington to play games in Indy. On Dec. 10, the Hoosiers will face Kentucky in a men’s basketball showdown. As always, GoTickets is the place to go for Indiana Hoosiers tickets, Kentucky Wildcats tickets, college football tickets and college basketball tickets.
The Colts are expected to begin play in their new retractable-roof stadium in ‘08. When they do, the RCA Dome will pass into history. Before that happens, you owe it to yourself to experience this great stadium first-hand. GoTickets can put you there.
