Fox Theater Atlanta
When you take your seat at the Fox Theater you’ll know you’re in a place with some history. Let’s face it our grandfathers knew how to build a theater. No rubber stamp construction here. The Fox Theater is ornate, beautiful, and irreplaceable. Erected in the midst of the Roaring 20’s in downtown Atlanta no expense was spared in the construction of this venue. In fact, it’s been estimated that to reproduce it now would cost over $300 Million.
The Architecture of the Fox Theater
Nestled in the plush old fashioned seats of the Fox, patrons can gaze overhead at a starlit sky created in plaster and steel. Functionally, this beautiful feature acts to enhance the acoustic quality of the performance. Entering the building, you have to stop and appreciate the Moorish domes and minarets of the exterior before being dazzled by the intricate design of every square inch of the walls. As one of the few surviving venues of the 20’s, the Fox Theater has been designated a historic landmark and deservedly so.
Seating at the Fox Theater
Remember this was originally a movie house of the 20’s. If you haven’t experienced what that’s like, you’ll have to see it to appreciate it. In those days, orchestra seating was in vogue and the Fox still demonstrates why seats in the orchestra section were so popular. They’re simply outstanding seats. But even in the loge seating, you’ll appreciate the gentle slope that gives every patron an unobstructed view. After all, 750,000 visitors a year to Atlanta’s Fox Theater can’t be wrong.
