Candlestick Park (formerly 3Com Park), is the home of the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL and the former home of the San Francisco Giants, who moved to the new AT&T Park in 2000. Built in 1960, Candlestick Park has witnessed some spectacular football and baseball in its 45-year history.

Back in 1971, the first year the 49ers played at Candlestick, Willie Mays belted his 3,000th career hit for the Giants. In the 1980s, powered by stars like Jerry Rice, Joe Montana and Steve Young, the 49ers tore up the NFL with four Super Bowl titles in the decade and another in 1994. Candlestick also hosted two World Series 27 years apart - in 1962 the New York Yankees, with Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle, beat the Giants in seven games, and then in 1989 the Oakland A’s swept the Giants in the Bay Area Series, which was delayed for 12 days when an earthquake shook San Francisco just before the first pitch of Game 3. And Candlestick was the site of the last ever concert by the Beatles on August 29, 1966.

The stadium’s name changes ended in ‘08, when the naming rights for Monster Cable ran out and the name went back to plain old Candlestick Park. If you want the best 49ers tickets, Candlestick Park tickets, then you need to check with GoTickets first.

Under the direction of head coach Jim Harbaugh, the Niners look like one of the toughest teams in the NFL. They were just one play away from reaching the Super Bowl in his first season and expectations are sky high in the Bay Area. With one of the fiercest defenses in the league, San Fran looks like the team to beat in the NFC once again this year.
