Rice Owls Football Ticket Info
Rice fans have to wonder what happened in ‘09. After a soaring ‘08 season that saw the Owls football team finish with ten wins and a big win in the Texas Bowl, last season saw them lose ten games and create questions about this team’s ability to be a contender. Coach David Bailiff returns for his fifth season, and with 10 of his career 15 wins coming in that one magical year, he will need to step up and prove to fans that he can put a winner out there more than once every five years. If you want to see what happens this season, we have Rice Owls football tickets for you.
The Rice Owls roster just might have the firepower to help Coach Bailiff reach this goal, as high-profile transfers Sam McGuffie and Taylor Cook look to inject some life into an offense that floundered after the graduation of Chase Clement. McGuffie, a running back from Michigan, can carry the offense with his big-play potential, and Cook, a quarterback from Miami, will give incumbent passer Nick Fanuzzi a run for his money. If the offense can step up behind one or both of these players, Rice could put together a truly respectable campaign. Help will also need to come on defense, where a team that allowed 43 points per game last year looks to manufacture a few more stops. Safety Travis Bradshaw and defensive ends Scott Solomon and Cheta Ozougwu will look to lead this turnaround, and linebacker Justin Hill will try to be one of the playmakers he said this defense needs. The Rice Owls schedule begins with a huge home matchup against the Texas Longhorns on September 4th at Reliant Stadium. While Texas is one of the top teams in the country, the combination of them overlooking Rice and the game being in Houston just might be enough for the Owls to shock the football world. The Owls will go on the road for two games after that, before returning home to Rice Stadium to face Baylor on September 25th. Conference USA play begins the next week at home against SMU (October 2nd), and the season will end with back-to-back home games versus East Carolina (November 20th) and UAB (November 27th). Rice definitely has the talent to be playing beyond that final game on November 27th, and if this team goes bowling you won’t want to miss one step of their journey. We have Rice Owls tickets, and we can help you be there for this turnaround season.
