Under current agreements, the New Orleans Bowl is a showdown between Conference USA and Sun Belt Conference schools. It has steadily grown in popularity since its beginning in ‘01, and is played prior to Christmas in December. The date for this year’s New Orleans Bowl is December 22, and R+L Carriers signed on to become the corporate title sponsors of the bowl in ‘06. The New Orleans Bowl has been played every year in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (formerly known as the Louisiana Superdome), except for ‘05.
