We are closing in on 30 years since Patrick Ewing led the Georgetown Hoyas to a national championship title back in ‘83-‘84 under head coach John Thompson, and now that coach’s son, John Thompson III, is on his way to rebuilding the program and returning it to its former glory. In his seven years at Georgetown, the younger Thompson has guided the Hoyas to five NCAA Tournament appearances and a memorable NCAA Final Four run a few seasons ago. Despite all his success, last season needs to be considered a minor disappointment for the Hoyas. They started off very hot with a 12-2 record and got all the way up to #9 in the rankings before losing four of five games at the start of Big East Conference play. Then they got hot again with wins against ranked teams from Villanova, Louisville and Syracuse in just over a week. But they tailed off again at the end of the season, losing their first games in both the Big East Tournament and NCAA Tournament. You can bet that the Hoyas will be looking for more this season, so go ahead and get your Georgetown basketball tickets.
As always, the Georgetown Hoyas basketball schedule will be one of the toughest in the country, as they play a tough non-conference schedule before taking on the best conference in the country in the Big East. Coach Thompson has a very young Georgetown Hoyas roster to work with, so it would be no surprise to see the team improve on its 21-11 record last season. If that happens, you can bet that the Verizon Center will be sold out for many games on the Hoyas schedule. But that’s not a problem if you buy your Georgetown Hoyas tickets at GoTickets, where you can always find college basketball tickets for sold out games.
People forget that the elder John Thompson was not an instant success at Georgetown and he was there for 12 seasons before winning his national championship, so his son is actually head of the curve with a NCAA Final Four appearance already under his belt. Now that his eighth season as the head coach of the Hoyas, Thompson III looks ready to join his father as one of the premier coaches in the game. So go check out a Hoyas game with Georgetown basketball tickets from GoTickets.
