Nestled in the Sonoran Desert, Phoenix, Arizona, was initially founded in the late 19th century due to its proximity to that all important resource, water. The Salt River and the Gila River are both near the city of Phoenix, which today has a metropolitan area that is home to more than 4.4 million people, making it the 12 largest metropolitan area in the country. As the capital of the state of Arizona, Phoenix is the largest state capital city in the country. Perhaps because of its role as a state capital, Phoenix has long been a hotbed of political development, particularly among Republican notables such as John McCain, Barry Goldwater, Sandra Day O’Connor and William Rehnquist. GoTickets is a hotbed for all Phoenix tickets.
