Alamodome 100 Montana Street San Antonio, TX 78203 Capacity: 65,000

The pride of San Antonio, the Alamodome is a state-of-the-art facility that hosts a variety of sports and major events. Built in 1993 for a cost of nearly $200 million, the Alamodome was the home of the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs for a decade from 1993-2002. One of the many highlights in Alamodome history was the Spurs’ 1998-99 season, when they went to the NBA Finals and behind superstars Tim Duncan and David Robinson defeated the New York Knicks for their first NBA title.

The Alamodome has also hosted the 1996 NBA All-Star Game and the NCAA Men’s Final Four twice. In 1998, more than 40,000 fans packed the stadium to watch Kentucky defeat Utah for the NCAA basketball title and then in 2004, nearly 45,000 witnessed Connecticut cut down the nets after beating Georgia Tech. In 2002, the Alamodome played host to the NCAA Women’s Final Four and set all-time attendance records with nearly 30,000 fans at both the semi-final and final game, when Connecticut bested Oklahoma.

And in 2008, the Men’s Final Four returns to the Alamodome for the third time. So when you start thinking about NCAA Final Four tickets, think Gotickets.

In addition to great basketball, there is big-time college football at the Alamodome as the home of the Alamo Bowl. Held since 1993 and televised on ESPN, the game matching the Big 10 against the Big 12 has produced some classic battles with teams like Michigan, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Penn State and Oklahoma State. The Alamo Bowl holds the record for the largest sports crowd in Alamodome history from the 1999 edition with Penn State taking down Texas A&M before a standing-room only crowd of 65,380. Alamo Bowl tickets are always in demand, but Gotickets has some of the best seats available.

Other events held at the Alamodome in the past include an NHL preseason hockey game with the Dallas Stars against the Los Angeles Kings, an NFL preseason tussle with the Dallas Cowboys vs. the Houston Oilers, championship boxing and numerous concert events. The Alamodome also features the San Antonio Sports Federation Foundation Hall of Fame with inductees like basketball great George “The Iceman” Gervin of the Spurs.
