Paramount Theatre Tickets
When the walls speak to you, you’ve got Paramount Theatre tickets to this great venue in Austin, Texas. Opened in 1915 as the Majestic Theatre, this historic landmark has been bringing entertainment to the people of Austin for almost a century. Can you believe Harry Houdini performed here? Not only Houdini, but Orson Welles, but Lillian Russell, more than one Barrymore, John Philip Sousa, and George M. Cohan have found a home at The Paramount. Over the last few years stars like Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, and Billy Joel have left a lasting impression on patrons with Paramount Theatre tickets.
Over the years The Paramount Theatre has hosted a variety of entertainment events. In the 30’s it was re-designed to allow the showing of movies. It also served as a venue for dance and theatre. When the advent of television threatened the life of The Paramount, the theatre was rescued with the help of restoration and hosted its first live performance in 1975, a concert by Dave Brubeck. The curtain that opened on his performace was the original curtain from the 1915 opening, which still hangs over The Paramount Theatre to this day.
The Paramount Theatre today is a working theater on the register of historic places. This historic venue has seen productions of Evita, My Fair Lady, and A Chorus Line. Currently Paramount Theatre tickets are offered for a wide selection of Broadway plays, children’s theater, and concerts. On the slate for 2007 are productions of Altar Boyz, Willy Wonka, Man of La Mancha, Pirates of Penzance, and many others.
