Cleveland’s first stab at building a great home field wasn’t an unqualified success. Cleveland Municipal Stadium, often derided as “the mistake by the lake,” was too big and impersonal even for football. Fans grew restless as it fell into disrepair in the 1980s and ’90s. The team responded by fleeing for Baltimore in 1995. It’s hard to imagine how things could have gone worse.
Guided by an intimate understanding of what not to do, the architects of Cleveland Browns Stadium understood the second time had to be the charm. They needed to design a facility that would appeal to sophisticated, amenity-seeking fans and Dawg Pound crazies alike. If the response to Cleveland Browns Stadium is any indication, they succeeded.
Located on the shore of Lake Erie, Cleveland Browns Stadium is everything the team and its fans wanted. The designers solved one of the old stadium’s biggest problems by fitting the lower bowl snugly around the field. The first row of seats in Municipal Stadium had been 144 feet from the 50-yard line; in Cleveland Browns Stadium, those same seats are only 65 feet away. In addition, the designers provided views of the skyline and the lake, as well as a restaurant and a Browns Hall of Fame. The Dawg Pound was preserved by placing 10,000 bleacher seats near the east end zone. It’s a remarkable achievement, and it has been embraced as another step in downtown Cleveland’s renaissance, following on the heels of Jacobs Field, Gund Arena and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But don’t take anyone else’s word for it; judge for yourself. Gotickets has the Cleveland Browns Stadium tickets and NFL tickets you’re looking for.

Cleveland Browns Stadium is unique among modern stadiums in that its naming rights weren’t auctioned off. Sponsors were sought for the four entrances into the stadium, but the name of the facility itself was not put up for bid. The decision to give the stadium a real name may cost some the team some money, but it resonated with Browns fans.
Even the most devoted members of the Dawg Pound understand that the Browns aren’t among the favorites this year to win Super Bowl tickets. But Crennel’s hiring appears to have set them on the right path, and the diehards will never stop coming to see them at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
