Walter Kerr Theatre Tickets
Walter Kerr Theatre tickets put you right in the heart of New York’s famous Broadway theatre district. Located on 48th St. between Broadway and Eight Avenue, the Walter Kerr Theatre was formerly known as the Ritz Theatre. Thanks to the Jajuymcn Theater Company, the Ritz Theatre was saved and renamed the Walter Kerr Theatre in honor of the famous playwright and critic Walter Kerr.
Kerr was a Pulitzer Prize winning critic whose reviews of New York Theatre productions established him as one of the Big Apples most respected writers. As a member of the New York Times for 17 years Kerr became the voice of the paper in regard to theater. But he wasn’t just a critic. Kerr also wrote and directed his own productions. His work includes Sing Out, Sweet Land, King of Hearts, and Song Of Bernadette.
Theater fans lined up for Walter Kerr Theatre tickets as the venue became the most popular place on Broadway with its production of Angels in America. Other past productions have included Sixteen Wounded, Gem of the Ocean, and A Moon for the Misbegotten. In 2006 the Walter Kerr Theatre began an open run of Grey Gardens, the story of Jackie Kennedy’s eclectic relatives. Lead actress Christine Ebersole, who takes on dual roles, has been showered with awards for her performance in this work of both comedy and tragedy.
