As home to the New York City Ballet and New York City Opera, the New York State Theater is one of the larger venues in the huge Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Opened on April 23, 1964, the New York State Theater has undergone many renovations since then and is renowned as one of the premier venues of its kind.
Started in 1944, the New York City Opera performs at the theater from September to November and March to April, while the New York City Ballet offers 23 weeks of performances from late April through June and also in January and February.
