The remarkable history of the Cherry Lane Theatre goes back nearly 200 years to 1817, when the property was a farm, and then later a tobacco warehouse and then a box factory. In 1924, it was converted to the Cherry Lane Playhouse, later to be known as the Cherry Lane Theatre. It has become New York’s longest running Off-Broadway theater with more than 80 years in the books.
