Although the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester has only been around for 10 years in its present form, the history of the site goes back to 1880, when the Kimbal Tobacco Factory occupied the land. That building later operated as a city hall annex and public library before the Rochester Community War Memorial and Civic Center opened in 1955 to honor the heroes of World War II.
