First opened in 1907 as the Stuyvesant, the name was changed in 1910 to honor David Belasco, who earned the nickname “The Bishop of Broadway” because of how he dressed. Some of the past stars to perform there include Walter Matthau, Jayne Mansfield, Humphrey Bogart and more recently Luke Skywalker, or actually Mark Hamill, who of course played Luke in the Star Wars movies.
