Midland Theater

Seating in the Midland Theater in Kansas City can be something of a shock to modern theater goers. While many are familiar with modern theaters, sometimes it’s nice to step back in time and experience what it was like when theater goers in the 20’s took their seats. Now imagine this. In 1927, it took $4 million dollars to create the beauty of the Midland Theater. That was a huge sum in those days and the Midland Theater was the pride of Kansas City theater society.

Deigned by prominent architect Thomas Lamb, the Midland Theater features an enormous amount of gold leaf adorning the interior, and five awe inspiring crystal chandeliers overhead. The seating chart offers orchestra seating on the floor and three levels of balcony seating. While it began life as a movie house, and at one time was a bowling venue, the Midland Theater has risen like a Phoenix to become Kansas City’s magnet for live performance. You’ll find Broadway plays, dance revues, ballet, and of course concerts you can enjoy from probably the most comfortable seats you’ll ever experience.

Now listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, the Midland Theater has to be seen to be believed and is certainly a must visit for anyone headed for Kansas City. When you’re ready, pick your performance, then visit our Midland Theater seating chart and get ready to enjoy the comfort of yesterday at the performances of today.
