Old Kent Park
Take me out to the ballpark. Old Kent Park that is. This ballpark, renamed Fifth Third Ballpark, is the home of the West Michigan Whitecaps, and like most minor league ballparks, occupies a special place in the hearts of local baseball fans. So much that the Old Kent Park seating chart has been expanded three times to brings its’ seating capacity up over 11,000.
The park itself features several amenities not found in other minor league parks. There are over 8,000 seatback chairs rather than benches, and seating in the outfield. You’ll also find more than the usual ballpark fare of hot dogs and beer. On the concourse are several concession stand selling pizza, meatball subs, bratwurst, and a variety of other foods. The Old Kent Park also gives away programs and scorecards so you can keep score from your seat if you’re a diehard baseball fan.
Along with the food, the folks at Old Kent Park liven up the action with giveaways and lighthearted contests between innings to keep the good times rolling. Besides baseball, Old Kent Park also fills the seats with other events such as Monster Truck rallies, and has concert seating for over 15,000 people. If baseball is your bag you won’t do any better than seats in Old Kent Park. And if concerts are your thing, you’ll be interested to know that Old Kent Park has a growing reputation as a premiere concert venue. Just ask Bob Dylan.
