Visitors to Hill Auditorium are in for a real treat. This 3,500 seat venue on the campus of the University of Michigan is famous for its acoustic qualities, offering patrons the opportunity to experience music at its finest. During the course of the year, you’ll be able to attend performances by several University of Michigan organizations. The University Philharmonic Orchestra, the Concert Band, and the University Choir all perform regularly.
Designed by Albert Kahn and with acoustic elements created by engineer Hugh Tallant, Hill Auditorium has been drawing musicians from all over the world for nearly a century. Classical performances at the Hill Auditorium include appearances by the London Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, jazz musician Dave Brubeck, and even Ravi Shankar. The sound is so good that Hill Auditorium has become a favorite of not only classical musicians, but rock and blues artists as well. Beck played a concert here, as well as Ray Charles, the Indigo Girls, the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, and Blues Traveler. Seating in the Hill Auditorium offers something for every musical taste.
