Everyone has been in the seats of the Fox Theater of their hometown. After all, there are Fox Theaters spread out across the country. But seating in the Fox Theater of Detroit is not quite the same thing. This is one of the best examples of 1920’s movie houses still left standing anywhere in America, and unlike many of those theaters, the Fox Theater in Detroit is still brimming with activity, a lively place still at the center of theater in the Motor City.

This is in fact, the first of the Fox Theaters. Built in 1928, it features traditional orchestra seating, mezzanine seating, and balcony seating. The inside is a blend of eastern décor, while the outside is the fabulous art deco of the period. But you can’t fail to notice the Fox Theater as it blazes in the light come nighttime.

As the years go by, the Fox Theater is still the best place to catch Broadway in Detroit. But this grand building has also kept up with the times, hosting a variety of more modern performances, and has even hosted events like the WWE and a regular line up of musical performances. Before heading for your seats in the Fox Theater, be sure to get your picture taken under the fabulous marquee of this National Historic Landmark.
