The Wilbur Theatre, which seats 1,200, was opened in 1914 by the Shubert Brothers and is one of the four venues operated by Broadway in Boston, which also presents shows at the Colonial Theatre, Charles Playhouse and The Opera House. The Wilbur Theatre helped launch the career of Marlon Brando, who performed there in a 1947 production of A Streetcar Named Desire. Other big names to perform at the Wilbur Theatre include Marisa Tomei, Quentin Tarantino, Fred Astaire and Ethel Barrymore.
