Formerly called the Worcester Centrum Arena, the DCU Center has been one of the premier venues on the East Coast since opening in 1982. Billboard Magazine has ranked it among the top five for its size many times. Among the stars to perform at the DCU Center are Neil Diamond, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel and Hilary Duff, all of whom kicked off their tours at the 14,800-seat facility. Other past events and concerts include Madonna, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, preseason NHL hockey and preseason NBA basketball. In addition to the arena, the DCU Center also includes a convention center that opened in 1997. The expanded facilities allow the DCU Center to host a variety of events from concerts to sports to major conventions and trade shows. Upcoming events at the DCU Center include System of a Down, Sesame Street Live, the Boston Pops Holiday Concert, the Professional Bull Riders tour (PBR), Disney on Ice - Monsters Inc., the Harlem Globetrotters and Smuckers Stars on Ice.
