Events at Alumni Stadium
Built in 1957, Alumni Stadium is home to the Boston College Eagles, who are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), after being a longtime member of the Big East. Of course one of the most memorable games in Big East Conference history was back in 1984 when Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie threw a miracle Hail Mary to Gerard Phelan against Miami at the Orange Bowl.
Alumni Stadium, which seats 44,500, has also served as the home of the Boston (now New England) Patriots for the 1963 and 1969 seasons (including a preseason game where a fire under the grandstand forced fans to run onto the field for safety). The oft-traveled Patriots also played at Fenway Park and Harvard Stadium before finding a more permanent home at Foxboro Stadium and now the new Gillette Stadium.
