Pete Maravich Assembly Center
The Pete Maravich Assembly Center is one of the country’s legendary college basketball arenas. When the Tigers are on a roll, seating in the Maravich Assembly Center is almost impossible to get. More importantly for the Tigers though is the reputation for raucous crowds and the deafening roar that intimidates visiting opponents. Dick Vitale has dubbed this facility “The Deaf Dome”. It’s also been called “The House that Pete Built” and is known to LSU Tigers fans as the P-MAC. Regardless of what you call it, seats in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center are tops on the list of college basketballs most treasured items.
The arena’s namesake, Pete Maravich, singlehandedly put LSU basketball on the map. Maravich was the premiere college basketball player of his time. “Pistol Pete” as he was known to legions of fans, filled the seats of every arena he ever visited, dazzling the crowd with his incredible ball handling skills and posting an amazing 44.2 point per game average.
Today the LSU Tigers routinely fill every seat in the Pete Maravich Assembly center. Of course, that little trip to the Final Four in 2006 goes a long way in explaining why. But for many college basketball fans, just being in the seats of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center is one of those experiences that draws you back time and time again. Maybe LSU Tigers basketball tickets should have a disclaimer printed on them. Warning: SEATING IN THE PETE MARAVICH ASSEMBLY CENTER MAY BE HABIT FORMING.
