Opened in 1931 at a cost of $1 million, the Paramount Theatre began as a movie house and also offered concerts, vaudeville and even circus performances. The Aurora Civic Center Authority spent $1.5 million to restore the venue in 1976 and two years later it reopened as the Paramount Arts Center.
