The Chicago Theatre is one of the Windy City’s most notable landmarks and its massive, six-story high vertical CHICAGO sign is recognized around the world. Opened in 1921 at a cost of $4 million, the theater debuted as a movie house with tickets ranging from 25 to 50 cents. The Chicago Theatre also presented a variety of live acts with stars like John Phillip Sousa, Jack Benny and Duke Ellington. But like many historic venues, it fell on hard times and was nearly demolished in the 1980s before being restored and then reopening with a concert by Frank Sinatra. Other notable performers since its reopening include Johnny Mathis, David Letterman, Robin Williams, Harry Connick Jr., Prince and Barry White. Get the best Chicago Theatre tickets from Gotickets.

Now a performing arts venue, the Chicago Theatre offers a variety of entertainment from concerts to comedy to theater to dance. The upcoming schedule includes the Improv Olympics 25th Anniversary Reunion Show featuring Mike Myers, Andy Dick and Andy Richter, and concerts by Carlos Vives, David Gray and Bonnie Raitt. The theater will also present a production of The Boy Friend directed by Julie Andrews.
