Since 1933, Spartan Stadium has been home to San Jose State University football. Playing in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), the Spartans will play a home schedule in 2005 against Eastern Washington, Nevada, Hawaii, New Mexico State and Idaho. The stadium is also home to the San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS (Major League Soccer). The Earthquakes hosted the first ever MLS game on April6, 1996 and attracted a record capacity crowd of 31,683. Later that year, the record was broken when 31,728 jammed in to see the MLS All-Star Game.
