One of the most historic and famous theaters on the West Coast is the Pantages Theater, which opened in 1930. The Pantages hosted the Academy Awards from 1949 to 1959 and for a time in the 1960s and 1970s the venue served as a movie house. It was restored with much of its original splendor and reopened as a performing arts theater in 1977. The upcoming schedule at the Pantages includes several smash Broadway hits.
