Formerly known as the Universal Amphitheatre, the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk opened in 1972 as an outdoor venue and presented superstars like David Bowie, The Grateful Dead, Elton John and Frank Sinatra. In 1982, the amphitheatre was enclosed and the indoor facility has featured performers like Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart and Eddie Murphy.
