For over 40 years, the Ahmanson Theatre has been at the heart of the Los Angeles theatre scene, featuring a mix of musicals, dramas, comedies and revivals. Located at the Music Center of Los Angeles County, the Ahmanson is part of a two-block complex of venues, the others being the Mark Taper Forum, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The Ahmanson has hosted some of the world’s most recognizable performances, including award winning productions of Swan Lake, Amadeus, and Smokey Joe’s Cafe. In addition, some of the United States’ best playwrights have used the Ahmanson as the launching pad for the world premiere of their works. Six of Neil Simon’s plays were world premiered at the theatre, and 13 of Simon’s plays have had a run at the Ahmanson. Not surprisingly, some of the world’s greatest actors have performed at the Ahmanson, including Elizabeth Taylor, Katherine Hepburn, James Earl Jones, and Lynn Redgrave.

The Ahmanson has been showered with praise through the years, and the theatre has won over 50 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards. The consistent level of success that the Ahmanson has achieved is the main reason why the theatre enjoys the largest theatrical subscription base on the West Coast in a year-round season.

This summer, the musical 9 to 5, based on the hit Dolly Parton song and movie, premieres at the Ahmanson and is sure to be one of the hottest tickets in town. Tony Award winning director Joe Mantello is at the controls for the show, which only amplifies the excitement surrounding 9 to 5. With only a limited amount of shows throughout the summer and fall months, be sure to get your tickets for this amazing show at gotickets.com. Looking ahead to 2009, the Ahmanson will host the popular show, Ain’t Misbehavin’ as well as several other spectacular options. Be sure to beat the rush and get your tickets at gotickets.com.
