The San Jose Sharks finished with a record of 25-16-7 last season which was good enough for 3rd in the Pacific Division and 6th overall in the Western Conference. Their division was highly competitive, with four teams surpassing 50 points in the lockout shortened season. The Sharks started out red hot, going undefeated in January with a 7-0-0 in the first month of the season. They cooled off considerably in February going just 2-6-4. When they clinched a playoff berth many experts believed that they had an offense volatile enough to make some real noise in the postseason.

They were paired up with the 3-seeded Vancouver Canucks in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs and took care of them with relative ease. The Sharks swept the series and were headed to Los Angeles to face the previous season’s Stanley Cup Champions, the Kings. They took the Kings to seven games but were unable to come home victorious in the final affair. The fans of San Jose were extremely proud of the way that their team had battled throughout the regular and postseason and believe that 2013-14 could be the year that the Sharks finally break out and become a series contender for the Stanley Cup.
