After a season which started strong with six wins in eight games, the Colorado Avalanche schedule toughened up and the team had a November that put them far behind in the standings. Though the Avalanche had some major talent, including a breakout rookie season from Calder Trophy winner Gabriel Landeskog, few had hopes that the Avs could pull off a playoff run in ‘11-‘12. However, led by the goalie tandem of Seymon Varlamov and Jean-Sebastien Giguere, both in their first year on the Colorado Avalanche roster, the Avs pulled out a much more impressive end to the season. Despite this bettering of their record, which was a 20 point improvement on the previous season, the Avs found themselves in a vicious struggle to gain a playoff berth, which they eventually lost to the LA Kings before that team went on to win the Stanley Cup Finals. This season might be different, so get your Colorado Avalanche tickets today.

There were some major bright spots in the ‘11-‘12 season for the Avalanche, who look like a team that is improving quickly. Some of the best moments for the Avs included a shutout victory over the defending Stanley Cup champions the Boston Bruins in the second game of the season and a pair of victories over major rivals the Detroit Red Wings, with whom their rivalry has at times been called the most intense in the entire NHL. Perhaps most telling of all, the Avs beat the soon-to-be league champions the LA Kings in all four of their matchups. The season saw spectacular stats from a good number of its players, including a top ten stats finish for new goalie Giguere. Additionally, Ryan O’Reilly, Paul Statsny and Landeskog all had 50+ points seasons, making Landeskog an instant Colorado legend. You can see them all with Colorado Avs hockey tickets.

With the resigning of their head coach and an offseason that saw little action for the Avs, with the exception of the excellent P.A. Parenteau being added, the team seems to believe that its current set up is one that will soon lead them to success. The Pepsi Center will have fans with Colorado Avalanche tickets that are hungry for wins, and if last season’s improvements are any indication, this is a team that might well oblige them.
