During the early ‘80s, the New York Islanders were far and away the most dominant team in hockey, as Mike Bossy filled the opposing nets and Billy Smith kept the puck out of the Islanders’ net. The team won an incredible four straight Stanley Cup championships during that era. While they’ve certainly had some good seasons since then, the last four don’t qualify as the Islanders have not made the playoffs since ’06-’07. Even so, there are plenty of reasons to believe that this could be a better year for the NY Islanders. For one thing, the New York Islanders roster was pummeled by injuries last season, as Mark Streit and Kyle Okposo were both knocked out of the lineup before the season even started. If they can stay healthy this season, the Islanders have a chance to make the postseason. If you want to be there, get your New York Islanders hockey tickets from GoTickets.

The Islanders continue to play in the second-oldest arena in the NHL (only the iconic Madison Square Garden is older), and although there is plenty of talk about a new Islanders arena to be named the Lighthouse Project, the team will once again play at Nassau Coliseum this season. Although the 40-year-old facility is certainly not the fanciest in the league, it’s also not as downtrodden as some in the media and community might lead you to believe. And on the plus side, New York Islanders tickets are extremely affordable, especially when you compare them to New York Rangers tickets. So pick out the games you want to see on the New York Islanders schedule and get your hockey tickets soon.

If you can only go to a couple Islanders games this season, make sure you catch one of the games against the New York Rangers. Perhaps the rivalry is not quite as intense as it once was, but it’s still one of the best in hockey. And as the Islanders start to rebuild on the path to becoming a contender for the Stanley Cup Finals once again, the Islanders-Rangers rivalry is sure to heat up. At GoTickets, you can find NY Islanders hockey tickets for every game this season.
