Even though the Detroit Lions didn't quite live up to quarterback Jon Kitna's guarantee of 10 victories last season, their 7-9 record was a still a big improvement over their 3-13 effort in 2006. With a bit more improvement, the Lions could be headed for their first playoff appearance since 1999. It's hard to put too much blame for last season on Kitna's shoulders, as he threw for more than 4,000 yards and completed 63.2 percent of his passes. The running game might need some improvement, since Kevin Jones was the team's top rusher last season with just 581 yards. General manager Matt Millen has endured his share of criticism over the years, but it looks like his draft picks and free agent signings are finally starting to come together, and Lions fans hope this will be the year of the Lions.
