It’s an exciting time to be an Atlanta Hawks fan. The new GM Danny Ferry has a stellar record in the NBA and he has wasted little time shaking things up on the Hawks roster. The team was always viable and somewhat average, but being held hostage by enormous contracts was wearing on the fans and the team’s future outlook. Getting rid of the huge contracts that went with Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams helped rejuvenate the team and give more hope to the fans. Atlanta was able to pick up some valuable players and future draft picks while restoring hope to the fan-base of landing a big time free agent or high draft pick in the future. It will be a beautiful sight to see the Philips Arena rocking with enthusiasm again in downtown Atlanta.

The Hawks finished at 44-38 last season which was good enough for 5th in the Eastern Conference. They fell to the 4-seeded Indiana Pacers in the first round put did manage to put up a fight. The Hawks pushed the series to six games but couldn’t get through the scrappy defense of the Indiana Pacers. Head Coach Larry Drew seems like the right man for the job in Atlanta and could have them contending for a title very soon. Don’t miss any of the Hawks games next season at Phillips Arena.
