Portland is consistently one of the most difficult places to play in the league. Maybe its the long flight, the time change, or simply the rabid Blazers fans that pack the Rose Garden each night. Despite this great atmosphere, the Blazers weren’t able to sneak into the NBA Playoffs last season. Portland finished 33-49, finishing 11th in the Eastern Conference. Despite the lackluster finish, the Blazers are confident in second year head coach Terry Stotts. Stotts has spent time with a number of different NBA franchises since going into coaching in the early 90’s. His other stops have included Seattle, Milwaukee, Atlanta, and Dallas.

Although last season didn’t quite go as planned for the Blazers, the future is bright for Portland’s NBA team. Last year’s first round pick, Damian Lillard, out of Weber State was unanimously named the NBA Rookie of the Year. Lillard was the sixth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and he did not disappoint in his first season in the Association. Lillard started all 82 games for the Trailblazers, averaging 19.0 points per game to go along with 6.5 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game. Lillard, along with the Blazers other first round selection from last year, Meyers Leonard, should provide stability on the roster for years to come.
