The Oklahoma City Thunder has one of the best home court advantages in the league. Unfortunately last year they were not able to return to the NBA Finals. They lost star point guard Russell Westbrook in the first round of the NBA Playoffs to a knee injury. Without the help of the dynamic Westbrook, Kevin Durant was not able to lead the Thunder past the Memphis Grizzlies in the Conference Semifinals, falling in five games. The Thunder were also without James Harden who was dealt to Houston prior to the start of the regular season. The Thunder knew they couldn’t retain the max contract that Harden would command so he was traded to the Rockets.

The Thunder was a very strong team throughout last year’s regular season, finishing 1st in the Western Conference. The loss of Russell Westbrook really eliminated any chances OKC had of returning to the NBA Finals. With Westbrook back healthy this season, the Thunder should once again be one of the best teams in the West. The development of players like Kevin Martin and Serge Ibaka has also helped the Thunder to improve their team play. NBA fans are also aware of the talent that former Texas stand-out Kevin Durant possess. As arguably the league’s best scorer, the Thunder have one of the best offensive attacks in the NBA, giving them an upper hand against just about any opponent they face.
