Dodge Avenger 500 Schedule
Darlington Raceway - the Lady in Black - is NASCAR’s oldest superspeedway, with the first Southern 500 run in 1949. Darlington tickets offer seats in one of the most historic venues on the Nextel Cup Series schedule; what the drivers call the ‘track too tough to tame’. that put fans in a beautiful area of South Carolina, Darlington Raceway tickets are available as part of travel packages about an hour’s drive from Myrtle Beach to the southeast and the state capitol of Columbia to the southwest.
Greg Biffle continued his determined assault on the Sprint Cup, winning his third race of the year at Darlington, leading 176 of the 370 laps. Biffle’s Roush racing teammate Mark Martin inadvertently helped Biffle when he spun down the frontstretch on lap 364, bringing out a caution flag that allowed Biffle and other lead lap cars to pit for much needed tires. Ryan Newman and Ken Schrader elected to stay on the track, both hoping their tires had enough grip on the slippery track to hold off the onslaught of attackers, but unfortunately for them, Biffle shot past them on the first green flag lap and never looked back in another exciting green/white/checker finish.
Biffle’s margin of victory was just under two seconds as he stormed over the line, followed by a charging Jeff Gordon (who had taken four tires on the pit stop), pole sitter Kasey Kahne and Mark Martin, who was fortunate to finish so well after his spin. Only nineteen of the 43 starters were on the lead lap when the checkered flag flew, not an unusual occurrence on this difficult track, although the race saw a season high 39 cars still running at the end.
