The ’12 St. Louis Cardinals season was incredibly exciting. After winning 88 games in the regular season, the Cards earned a playoff birth as the second Wild Card team in the National League. Following a win in their one game playoff with Atlanta, the Cards marched into the nation’s capital and took down the Washington Nationals. It looked as if the Cards were destined to return to the Fall Classic again in ‘12 but the scrappy San Francisco Giants were able to stave off elimination in 3 straight games, forcing a decisive seventh game and winning the National League Pennant over St. Louis.
