The history of professional baseball goes back well over a century, and during that time rarely has there been a team as consistent as the Atlanta Braves were from 1995-2005. Over that period the Bravos won an incredible 11 straight National League East titles under the leadership of manager Bobby Cox. And even though that streak finally came to an end in the ’06 season, the Braves are still a serious playoff contender. And since Cox has announced this might be his last season, you can bet that the players are hoping to give him another World Series championship. Get your Braves baseball tickets now so you can be part of the action.

While there is certainly no denying that the Braves were a very strong team when they were winning all of those division titles, part of the reason for their success was the relative weakness of their division. However you can’t say that anymore, and even the Washington Nationals, which generally bring up the rear in the division, have the incredible pitching phenom Stephen Strasburg and are no longer a pushover. Plus the New York Mets and Florida Marlins are much improved, and of course the Philadelphia Phillies have been to the World Series in each of the past two seasons and they won it all in ’08. The NL East might be the most competitive division in baseball, and but the Braves appear to have the talent to come out on top this season.

The Braves spent three decades at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium, and even though that ballpark had plenty of history, including Hank Aaron’s 715th career home run in ’74, it started to show its age in the 1990s and finally was replaced by Turner Field in ’96. It’s no coincidence that the Braves’ run of dominance started shortly after moving into Turner Field. The stadium underwent a massive renovation project a few years ago that included a new $10 million scoreboard, which is more than half of the total cost of Fulton County Stadium.

The Braves knocked on the playoff door last season and they intend to kick the door down this time. As always, pitching is the strength of the Braves roster and that’s exactly what it takes to win in the postseason.
