When the first Major League Baseball All-Star Game was held some 80 years ago, it was billed as a one-time event to help celebrate the Chicago World's Fair. But that game at the old Comiskey Park proved to be so popular, with nearly 50,000 MLB All-Star Game tickets being sold, that it became an annual event that we now know as the Midsummer Classic. That first event featured the likes of Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth and Jimmie Foxx, and you can count on the 2013 MLB All-Star Game to feature plenty of future Hall of Famers. GoTickets has your All-Star Game seats right now for the big game set to be played July 16, 2013, at Citi Field in New York City.

This will mark the second time that the New York Mets have hosted the All-Star Game, as the old Shea Stadium served as the home for the event in '64. That was just the third year of existence for the Mets, and it was their first in the then-new Shea Stadium. While that old ballpark gave fans some great memories, like the '69 Amazin' Mets and the '86 Miracle Mets, including Mookie Wilson's famous ground ball past Bill Buckner at first base, the completion of Citi Field in '09 was a welcome change for baseball fans in the Big Apple. The nearly $1-billion stadium has already earned great reviews in its first few years, and now it's ready to showcase one of the biggest sporting events of the year. You can be there with Major League Baseball All-Star Game tickets.

There have been some incredible streaks in the long history of the MLB All-Star Game. In the '30s and '40s, the American League dominated the game, but then in the in the '50s the National League started to take control. Then remarkably, from '63 to '82 the National League won every game except one, before the American League rebounded to make a run and they went more than a decade without losing. The National League now has a mini-streak with three straight wins, but the American League will be looking to snap that skid and win back home field advantage in the World Series with a victory. No matter who wins, it's sure to be another memorable renewal of the Midsummer Classic. GoTickets has your 2013 MLB All-Star Game tickets now, plus we'll also have Home Run Derby tickets. And while you are in NYC for the game, we can also help out with Broadway show tickets.
