Kansas City Royals Tickets Info

Many fans don’t remember that the Kansas City Royals are actually the city’s second Major League Baseball team after being the home of the now Oakland A’s from ’55 to ’67. Just a couple years after the A’s left town, Kansas City was awarded an expansion franchise and the Royals were born. Remarkably, the Royals have played virtually all their games at Kauffman Stadium except for a handful of years early on at Municipal Stadium. Built in ’73, Kauffman Stadium has stood the test of time better than most other MLB ballparks, especially all those cookie cutter stadiums that were constructed in the 1970s. Most of those parks are not even around anymore, but Kauffman is still going strong after a $250 million renovation project a few years ago. That ambitious project included a new scoreboard and video screen that cost nearly $10 million, as well as tremendous improvements to the concourses and many of the seating areas. That was enough to convince MLB that the stadium should host the 2012 MLB All-Star Game.

Even though it’s been a long time since the team’s one and only World Series title back in ’85, and Hall of Famer George Brett is no longer wearing the powder blue uniform, all hope is not lost in KC. The Royals roster includes ’09 Cy Young Award winner Zack Greinke, who the team recently locked up with a long-term contract. Now they can build around their star pitcher, and that means a return to the playoffs in the future is a possibility.

With a rivalry going back several decades, and including the famous “Pine Tar Game” in ’83, Kauffman Stadium is always filled to capacity when the New York Yankees come to town. The Royals also enjoy a rivalry against the nearby St. Louis Cardinals of the National League, so it’s always a big event when the two teams meet up during interleague play. But even if the game is sold out, GoTickets.com always has great KC Royals tickets for you. In fact, we have a huge selection of Kauffman Stadium tickets for every game on the Royals baseball schedule.
