Every team, whether it’s the coach, players or fans, likes to say they have a tough schedule and then use that to explain any losses during the season. But few teams can claim to have had a schedule as tough as the San Jose State Spartans did to start last season. The team played their first three games on the road against #4 USC, #17 Utah and Stanford. Not surprisingly, the Spartans lost all three of those games, and they went on to win just two more games for the rest of the season. That led to the retirement of head coach Dick Tomey, and now new head coach Mike MacIntyre takes over. And what does he get as a welcome gift? Well, he gets to open the season in Tuscaloosa against the defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide. Then it’s on to Madison for a game against the Wisconsin Badgers. While the Spartans are not likely to win either of those games, that should set them up nicely to pick up some wins in the Western Athletic Conference. Get your San Jose State Spartans football tickets today.

After those two brutal opening games, the Spartans come home to Spartan Stadium to take on Southern Utah. Other home games on the San Jose State schedule include Fresno State, UC Davis and Boise State on October 16. That will be a huge game for both teams, as the Broncos will be looking to get to the BCS National Championship and the Spartans will be looking to grab some national attention by beating Boise State. If you want to be there to see any game at Spartan Stadium, buy your San Jose State football tickets right now.

New coach Mike MacIntyre has never been a head coach, but he brings with him plenty of NFL experience with the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets. He also helped get the Duke football program back on track as the defensive coordinator there, so he’ll be looking to improve a Spartan defense that gave up way too many points last season.
