It has been 41 games since Akron beat an FBS team that finished with a winning record, and after former head coach J.D. Brookhart took a talented team and once again failed to gain results, Akron replaced him with Rob Ianello. Ianello comes from Notre Dame, and he brings with him big-game experience, a fresh attitude, and a new brand of football. Gone is the ineffective spread offense, and in comes a pro-style offense that will try to move the ball efficiently in a hard-nosed style.
