In their first season in the Big 12, the West Virginia Mountaineers finished 7-6, including a 4-5 record in the Big 12. They got off to a torrid start winning their first five games, two of which came against ranked opponents. They defeated the #25 Baylor Bears at Mountaineer Field by a score of 70-63 and then took down the Texas Longhorns on the road by a count of 48-45. They reached #5 in the rankings before falling at Texas Tech in mid-October. Unfortunately WVU wasn’t able to shake that loss in Lubbock and they would go on to lose five straight. They were able to remain bowl eligible at the conclusion of the regular season, finishing at 7-5. They were invited to the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium where they took on the Syracuse Orangemen. They fell to ‘Cuse 38-14 in the Bronx. Despite their late season struggles, the Mountaineers are confident they can be one of the top teams in the Big 12 this season. Get your West Virginia football tickets today to see if they can make a splash in the BCS.

Head coach Dana Holgorsen is entering his third year as head coach of the West Virginia Mountaineers. He has compiled a 17-9 record thus far and will look to improve on that in 2013. If he wants to collect more wins he will have to do it against a very difficult schedule this season. After an easy non-conference game against William & Mary at home, the Mountaineers head to Norman to take on the Sooners on September 7th. If they can make their way past OU, they will prove that they are one of the Big 12’s elite teams. Other notable games on the 2013 West Virginia football schedule include home affairs against OK State, Texas Tech, Texas, and Iowa State. Their road opponents include Baylor, K-State, TCU, and Kansas. Get your WVU Mountaineer tickets for all of their upcoming games this season.

Morgantown can be an intimidating place to play, and that will certainly be the case this season as teams from the Big 12 get to experience it for the first time. That should give the Mountaineers an edge, and you can help give them an added boost by cheering them on with West Virginia football tickets from GoTickets.
