ACC Tournament History
Before you know it the 2010 Final Four will be here and it’s a good bet several teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference will be in contention for the NCAA basketball title. Of course Duke and North Carolina immediately come to mind, but the ACC also sent Boston College to the Sweet 16 in 2006 and it would be no surprise to see a few others make it in 2007. With ACC basketball tickets, you’ll get a sneak-peek at some of the nation’s premier teams before they head off to the Big Dance.
The lucky fans with ACC tournament tickets last season got to see Mike Kryzewski’s Duke Blue Devils win yet another title - their seventh in eight years and 16th overall - but it wasn’t easy. Coach K’s squad, led by J.J. Redick, just edged out Boston College with a 78-76 win in the ACC championship in a game that wasn’t decided until the final moments. BC got to the title game with a semi-final win over 2005 National Champion North Carolina, which spoiled the anticipated Duke-NC match-up. But considering the young talent on the Tar Heels team, particularly now-sophomore Tyler Hansbrough, coach Roy Williams will surely be thinking about an ACC title and a Final Four appearance in 2007.
And while Duke and North Carolina (and now perhaps Boston College) are perennially the top teams in the ACC, you can’t forget about the rest of the conference - Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest are all accomplished programs and any of them could prevail in the ACC tournament. So mark you calendar for March 8-11, 2007 and get your ACC Basketball Tournament tickets from GoTickets.com.
ACC Tournament Future Schedule
When the ACC started to expand in 2003 the ACC Tournament became a hot topic of conversation. With four founding members in North Carolina, the biggest and best college basketball tournament had originated in Raleigh at NC State's Reynolds Coliseum back in 1954 and has only left the state ten times since then including 2009 where it was held at the Georgia Dome. In 2010 the historic tournament will return to Greensboro at the Greensboro Coliseum that has seen some of the best tournaments back in the 70's and 80's.
